“The FLDOE and AIR Cannot Be Trusted to Investigate Themselves”

So says Fair Test spokesman Bob Schaeffer after news broke that is was an alleged cyber attack which caused FSA testing fails:

“A cyber-attack on the Florida testing system is technically possible – one disrupted last year’s online exam in Kansas — but it is also a very convenient excuse for the computer system collapse that confronted many Florida test-takers for several days last week.

“Whether or not cyber-attacks were a source of the problems, the Florida Department of Education and its contractor are still responsible. Either they failed to build a sufficiently secure testing system or they are fabricating an explanation for their technical fiasco.

“There must be an independent investigation to determine what really happened and why.  Florida DOE and AIR cannot be trusted to investigate themselves because both have a vested interest in making the controversial, new testing system appear credible.”

About Bob Sikes

A long time ago and a planet far, far away I was an athletic trainer for the New York Mets. I was blessed to be part of the now legendary 1986 World Series Championship. My late father told me that I'd one day be thankful I had that degree in teaching from Florida State University. He was right and I became twice blesses to become a teacher in the late 1990's. After dabbling with writing about the Mets and then politics, I settled on education.
