Playing to New Hampshire’s Moderates, Lindsey Graham Condemns Rubio for Going Hard Right

From Eliza Collins in POLITICO:

Lindsey Graham had some harsh words for Marco Rubio on Tuesday, particularly on his stance on abortion and immigration which he warned would keep women and Hispanics from joining the party.

“Marco has no exceptions for rape and incest,” the South Carolina senator said in an interview with MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “I think it’s going to be very hard to grow the party among women if you’re gonna tell young women, ‘If you get raped, you’ve gotta carry the child of the rapist. Most pro-life people don’t go there, that will not sell in New Hampshire.”

“Immigration haunts this party. He tried to fix a broken immigration system in a rational way. Now he has backed off. To think that’s not gonna matter in the general election — you’re kidding yourself,” Graham said. “I don’t know how this movie ends, but I know with women and Hispanics, that we’re going the wrong direction in my view,” Graham said.

Save the trying to be helpful tone when acting as Jeb Bush’s mouthpiece, Senator. In 2014, Graham accused Rubio of being “scared of the right,” so go figure. Also on record as saying Rubio is not ready,  one can’t help that but feel that Graham is part of that petty “wait your turn crowd” along with Jeb Bush. Hopefully this will be the last week of their mean girl act.

About Bob Sikes

A long time ago and a planet far, far away I was an athletic trainer for the New York Mets. I was blessed to be part of the now legendary 1986 World Series Championship. My late father told me that I'd one day be thankful I had that degree in teaching from Florida State University. He was right and I became twice blesses to become a teacher in the late 1990's. After dabbling with writing about the Mets and then politics, I settled on education.
